Bedtime is 8:30pm around here for my kids. It is no mystery to them that 8:30 is when they are supposed to happily waltz off to sleepy land. Let’s face it though, they don’t always act like perfect little angels. There are nights when having to stop playing is not at all what they are wanting to do. So how do I keep arguing to a minimum? A timer.
My mom gave me this great idea a while ago. Just set the timer for the bedtime at your house. Let the kids know that when the timer goes off then it is bedtime. The weird thing is the kids check the timer and know it is counting down. Then when the beeping begins they start heading to their rooms.
It doesn’t work all the time to avoid tantrums but seems to help with making them fewer than what we used to face. Hope this bedtime tip is helpful at your home!
