As we age, the elastin and the collagen structure of our skin will begin to lose its elasticity, causing it to look saggy and loose. In addition, your skin can start to lose its elasticity due to the harm UV rays of the sun, excessive smoking, a poor diet or even excessive weight loss.
Thankfully, there are some low-cost home remedies you can start using today to make your skin look like new again.
#1 Egg Whites ($1 per 8 dozen)
Egg whites are known to be a natural astringent and be considered a wonderful remedy for sagging skin. The hydro lipids, found inside egg white, can help lift the loose skin and only needs to be applied twice per week to see desirable results.
To apply an egg white properly, simply whisk in a bowl until you notice a foamy texture. Once foamy, rub it around your face and neck, not missing any spots. Leave it on for at least 30 minutes and rinse off once your time is up.
#2 Lemons ($0.25 each)
The vitamin C found inside a lemon is a great way to produce your collagen production; it can also help restore the elasticity on your skin. If that’s not enough, a lemon also has astringent properties, just like an egg white, helping your skin tighten naturally.
Applying a lemon on your face is rather simple: Extract lemon juice inside a small container and rub it on your face or neck, avoiding the eyes, of course. Leave it on for about 10 to 15 minutes and rinse with cool water when the timer rings. Do this about three times per week and try your best to follow the process with a natural moisturizer.
#3 Aloe Vera ($5 for smaller plant)
The malic acid from inside of aloe vera gel can help improve the elasticity of your skin and can also help with the sagging as well. If that’s not enough, it’s even known to be an amazing natural moisturizer.
If you don’t have an aloe vera plant, you can purchase one online or even at a local natural grocery store. With this plant, extract the gel from the leaves and apply it to your skin. Leave it on for close to 20 minutes and wash it away when the time is up. With aloe vera, try to use this concoction daily if possible.
#4 Cucumber ($0.30 each)
Cucumbers are known to be one of the most refreshing remedies to use on your skin. Grind a cucumber and squeeze it through a strainer to extract as much juice as possible. With this juice, apply it to your face and wait until it dries, usually 20 to 30 minutes later.
#5 Honey ($5 to $10 for pure raw 16-ounce bottle
Honey has a natural, hydrating ant-aging property which is known to help treat sagging skin. A common skin moisturizer includes either honey mixed with lemon and olive oil or mixed with one part honey and one part sour cream. No matter which option you choose, the process is simple: Mix your ingredients, apply it to your face and allow it to dry. Once dry, rinse with cool water and try to apply it twice per day to see noticeable results over time.
#6 Rose Water ($10 per 8-ounce bottle)
Rose water can commonly be purchased over the counter at most natural health stores or online. This amazing toner is considered to be a natural astringent and like most of the remedies listed here, it’s also easy to use. Apply a splash of rose water to the face before going to bed and allow it to sit overnight. This process will help prevent premature aging signs and will tighten the pores.
#7 Cinnamon ($5 per 2-ounce jar)
Cinnamon has been known to increase collagen production, a protein essential to tighten your skin. To create the perfect blend, mix one teaspoon of cinnamon, turmeric powder and enough olive oil to create a paste-like mixture. Then, if you have it, mix a pinch of salt and/or sugar. With this natural facial scrub, apply it to the face and allow it to sit for a few minutes, rinsing it off after about 10 minutes or so.
#8 Strawberries ($1 to $3 per pound, depending on season)
Packed with vitamin C, alpha hydroxyl acid and potent antioxidants, strawberries can produce the college fibers to keep the skin looking smoother than ever. To create your strawberry skin mask, mash a few strawberries in a bowl to create a jam-like appearance. Then, mix it with at least two to three teaspoons of honey and apply this new paste to your facial area. Leave it on for close to 10 minutes and rinse off with cool water for at least three to four weeks.
As you can see, these remedies are a wonderful and natural alternative to keep your skin looking better than ever. While you shouldn’t expect the best-looking skin ever, you can see some great differences if you follow a plan for a few weeks.
