How to Prepare Your Home for Germ Season
Have you already had the sniffles this season? This past Tuesday, I went to work and then went right back home after an hour. My nose was running and I was feeling pretty bad. It’s so important to be prepared at home before germ season even starts so if you have to go home during work, you don’t have to make a stop for medicine!
I have three kids in elementary school. The only thing that would make me more qualified to talk about how to prepare your home is if one of my kids was in preschool. Why? Parents know that any time kids are packed together in a classroom for 6+ hours a day, they are going to share their germs like we wish they would share their toys – freely and without question. Right?!
This tutorial is about having products on hand to keep homes clean and keep us in good health especially with the holidays coming up! We have lots of events for school, my work, and the community during the months of November and December. Germs will be dosey doe’ing through the get togethers like square dancers swinging partners round and round. Holiday season means time to prep for germ season for this momma!
I recently shopped Kroger (I LOVE the Kroger Marketplace near my home) and picked up a bunch of items for the dreaded germ season. It was easy to find these products as they were all on the same aisle (except the Clorox which was in the cleaning aisle). Plus, Kroger offers savings on these products and more; check it out by clicking here.
My go to item for killing germs before they even get started in my house are Clorox wipes. They are my favorite disinfecting wipes as I’ve never had a problem with them tearing and I like how it is easy to pull them out of the bottle. They kill 99.9% of germs that can live on surfaces for up to 48 hours – viruses* and bacteria. This includes Staph, E. Coli, Salmonella, and Strep. I have a vivid imagination. When my kids come home from school, I imagine little puffy germs floating off their hands and bodies and landing all over the house covering counters, door knobs, food, etc. ICK! That’s why I love to wipe everything down with Clorox Disinfecting Wipes.
Another item that is handy to have ready for treating cold and flu syptoms is Theraflu Daytime Severe Cold and Cough. It provides powerful relief without a prescription. I could have used this at work on Tuesday!!!!
With achy colds and fevers, sometimes fever blisters can rear their ugly heads (no pun intended). Before they even spring up, when the tingle or itchy feeling happens on your lips, use Abreva. If you have trouble with cold sores, have this ready at home especially during germ season. Using it at the first sign of a cold sore delivers the best results as it is not for temporary symptom relief, but healing.
Let’s not forget to stock up for the kids too. I have three young elementary kids and we have already had a bout with runny noses in our house since school started. I’m pretty sure whatever was going on with me one Tuesday is a direct result of a germ piggy-backing home from my kids’ school since other kids at their school have been sick. It’s so important to me to have medicine on hand before it’s actually necessary especially for my kids. Children’s TYLENOL® Cold + Flu provides multi-symptom relief from TYLENOL®, the #1 selling brand of pediatric pain reliever & fever reducer. Plus, the grape flavor makes it easier to convince them to take medicine that I know will make them feel better!
It’s so important to be prepared before germ season starts knocking at your door – and barging right in! It’s a sanity saver to not have to go out for medicine while you aren’t feeling good. Even more of a sanity saver is to not have to drag a kiddo not feeling good to the store for medicine. UGH!
Stock up early before germ season gets into full swing and especially before the holiday season gets going!
Abreva – Use only as directed. Read and follow label directions. Clorox – Use as directed on hard non-porous surfaces. Theraflu – Read and follow label directions. PS Germs can barge into your homes in other ways too.
Did you know that it is believed that roaches can carry diseases and cause allergies? Eeew! Don’t even get me started about mice and plagues. YIKES! Cleaning with Clorox Disinfecting Wipes are a good way to clean up this type of mess. But a preventative measure would be even better like this exterminator in Noblesville Indiana. Be sure to do research when finding a pest control service and when you are doing all you can to keep those germs out!
