Two weeks ago I started a mini-makeover of my daughters bathroom/closet. This included moving a bunch of non-bathroom fixture type stuff around like the toilet paper holder. Ever wonder how they are attached to the wall? I’ll show you through this simple tutorial…
When you purchase a toilet paper roll holder these are the parts you are most likely to get in the picture below. There will be two brackets that you will screw to the wall. Then the parts that the roll will hang from like at the bottom of the picture. After you have decided where in the bathroom you want this to hang, grab a scrap piece of paper.
A. Place the brackets on the paper and the holder on top of the brackets so they are the correct width apart.
B. Take off the holder from the brackets and using a pencil mark the center hole on each bracket (see #1 in the picture). Make sure that the brackets are arranged correctly (see #2 in the picture).
C. Now on the wall or cabinet that the toilet paper holder will be placed, hold the scrap paper and mark the holes. I also like to make sure it is level and hold a mini level on each mark to verify. See how the bubble is between the lines? Perfect!
D. Now the marks for the brackets are in place and it’s time to add those…
E. Almost finished! Just add each end of the toilet paper holder to the brackets. On the bottom of these is a teeny tiny teensy weensy screw. I mean it’s small! I had to try a couple different screwdrivers to find the one that would work! Place the end piece over the bracket as there is a little lip on it that the screw will hold onto. Here’s how to attach is in pictures…
All done! Now wasn’t that easy?
This is the same method I used to hang the hand towel holder and can be used also for most large towel holders.
Below is the supply list with picture links to Amazon of what will be needed for the installation:
Toilet paper holder
Electric drill (We have a cordless; it’s just much less of a headache!)
Screw driver bits
Teeny tiny screw driver kit
