Welcome to Marvelous Tips Mondays! This is a series of tips usually on Mondays and sometimes other days meant to make life a little bit easier.
There is a bunch of unused empty space behind our duplex yard. So my kids and I have started planting veggies and flowers in this barren landscape. The only draw back is it’s a bit of a stretch for our water hose which means we needed a watering can. I’m not sure how long we will be living in the duplex so I didn’t want to spend any money on a watering can. Plus, why buy something when I already have everything needed to make one?!
Below is a tutorial on how to make a simple and cheap watering can.
To make a watering can, three things are needed:
An empty juice jug with handle. The one I used was from the clear fruit punch at Walmart(yippee for no red dye in the fruit punch!).
An electric drill
A drill bit the size you want your watering holes
First, I put water in the jug to make to sturdy and then put the lid onto the jug and drilled 5 holes.
Lastly, I drilled two holes near the top so that a vacuum wouldn’t be created while watering plants…
This was a bit tricker to start each hole as the bit kept slipping off the plastic. So be VERY careful doing this as well. Also drill these hole above where you want the top of the water to be filled.
I know! So easy right?! Now you can easily make your watering can. Are you going to make one??? If so send me a link in the comments below, I’d love to check it out!
