How do you clean your home? Many people do this room by room, and don’t realize that they might be doing it wrong. The problem with cleaning this way is that it’s way too slow. People clean a room for hours, while they could do the entire house in as much. They focus on one area, and take forever to reach the next, without even getting to the next room.
What you should do instead is focus on one task at a time. Decide that you want to dust first, and do it in the entire house, before moving to the next chore. You like this idea? Well, here are more tips and tricks that you may not know about.
Take care of soap residue with a dryer sheet
If you have a used dryer sheet, don’t throw it away. You can still make use of it, by sprinkling some water onto it, and then wiping remaining soap residue off your shower doors. This is solution can do wonders on stained surfaces.
Wait before you deal with mud
Fresh mud is hard to deal with. But the good news is that you don’t have to take care of it until it gets dry. When it’s crispy, you can remove it much more easily. Take care of remaining spots with a dish soap and some water.
Pick up fur with a rubber glove
Your pet is bound to leave fur on your furniture. Soak up your rubber glove in water, and use it as a quick and simple solution to pick it up from the surface. Instead of sticking to the padding, the hair will bind to the glove.
Untangle jewellery with baby powder
Don’t waste your time desperately trying to untangle a necklace on its own. You can make your job a lot easier simply by applying some baby powder as a lubricant.
Remove greasy stains from clothes
It’s inevitable that sometimes you get some sauce onto your favorite shirt. Apply some dish detergent and a little water to quickly get rid of it. It’s gentle enough for most types of fabric.
Unclog the drain with baking soda
If your drain is slow and giving you a headache, there is an easy solution for it. Pour half a cup of baking soda mixed with half a cup of vinegar. Use a wet cloth to cover it, and leave it like that for a couple of minutes. Then flush it with hot water.
Clean your coffee grinder with rice
Use a handful of rice grains to easily get your coffee grinder clean. Running them in an empty grinder gets rid of remaining coffee grounds. Throw out the rice afterwards, and wipe the grinder until it sparkles.
Take care of your bathroom and kitchen floors
You need to sweep and then scrub the kitchen and bathroom floors. Perth tile and grout cleaning professionals suggest thorough floor wiping by using a cleanser and a microfiber cloth. Get down on your knees and take care of every corner.
Cleanse your microwave with lemon
It’s much easier to wipe down the inside of your microwave if you heat up a lemon cut up in pieces and placed in a cup of water. Let it sit like that for 15 minutes, and then easily wipe it down.
Dust with a coffee filter
A microfiber cloth isn’t the best solution for your computer or TV monitor. A coffee filter does the job nicely, making sure that you do a safe job and don’t leave any scratches.
Make sure there are no unpleasant smells
There is another great use for baking soda. Place it next to your towels and sheets. This will make sure that there are no clammy smells around.
Get rid of carpet stains
Mix one tablespoon of dish liquid with two cups of warm water. Dip a white cloth into it, and clean the stain. Keep doing this until the cloth absorbs the stain. Then use a sponge dipped in cold water, and dry it with a fresh cloth.
Take care of coffee stains
A simple way to get rid of the irritating and ugly rings that coffee mugs tend to leave is to use toothpaste on them.
Dust your ceiling fan with a pillowcase
Slide a pillowcase over every blade of the fan, forward and then back. It will pick up all the dust instead of letting it fly around the room.
Iron damp clothes
When your clothes are damp, it makes it much easier to get rid of wrinkles. So take care of them as soon as you take them out of the drier. Or, if your iron has it, use the spray feature.
