Remember my previous post about Decluttering the bookshelf? Oh, it feels so good to have the eyesore of jumbled up books now looking nice and neat! Well, I’m continuing through my house in 20 minute bursts like the book Step By Step Decluttering suggests. And the latest area that was tackled was under my china hutch.
The clutter doesn’t look too scary when the little trays are shoved under the cabinet, but dun dun dunnnnn…
Those three little trays sure can hold a bunch of stuff! There were coloring books, craft projects that had already been done and that had yet to be done, a couple little leftover party favor bags from my oldest’s birthday last year, and some travel coloring books and stickers that weren’t used on our vacation last year. Oh, and there was at least one bag full of trash and one bag of coloring books and things to donate!
I was so glad to have found those last year’s Easter stickers to color and little bags and the travel kits(has mini coloring/activity book, colors, and stickers) for our 6-1/2 hour drive to Mamaw and Papaw’s.
I also found these chore charts that I bought last year at the Dollar Tree (I heart the Dollar Tree!). I’ve been meaning to use these since last summer. I’m so happy to have decluttered this area!!!
I can’t believe I looked through all this mess and sorted it in just 20 minutes. I’ve been putting it off for several months. Well, it’s been at least for 9-10 months since the birthday party was about that long ago! And in such a short amount of time, I got an unseen area decluttered and organized! It’s been a mental block for me to do this but there is something magical about setting the timer for 20 minutes that forced me to make decisions quickly.
I learned the timer thing from the new book Step By Step Decluttering that I was sooo lucky to get to review! Who knew how much stress I’ve been putting on myself thinking I didn’t have enough time to declutter this little area of the house! I’m so glad to have read this book to give me the emotional support and push to go ahead and try with 20 minute bursts of decluttering. Ok, so you can probably see that I highly recommend the book, right?! That’s why I’m all for sharing it with my readers! Hope it is as encouraging to you as it has been for me! 🙂
