One of my favorite hobbies is having a garden and now a turtle pond. I used to hate weeding it but the older I get the more I just enjoy having an excuse to get outdoors – even yard work. Still, minimizing the amount of time needed to week is always a plus. That’s why I love to use mulch – even in my garden. Remember my article about how I used items left behind by the previous owners of our house to create a garden? It included a layer of mulch so weeding wouldn’t have to be done every day. The video below talks a little bit about that, you can see how the season for some of the plants is over in our growing zone, and learn about what can be used under the mulch for a barrier instead of having to pay for something at the home improvement centers if you are on a budget like us.
Hope this information is helpful about yard work! It is a way to save time so that you won’t have to weed as often and a way to save money by reusing paper as underlayment.
