The only time I’ve been around a pressure cooker was in my childhood. My mom has always been an avid canner. We were so broke during my early childhood that we would have been very hungry if it weren’t for our big garden to eat from in the summer and my mom canning the abundant produce with her pressure cooker for food in the winter.

Pressure cookers have changed –
The new generation of pressure cookers are not so bulky and cumbersome and can do so much more than just canning! I recently found out about a brand new book Master the Electric Pressure Cooker Cookbook. “This is NOT your Grandmothers pressure cooker cookbook!” Until I read about it, I had no idea that a pressure cooker could be used to cook or make just about anything like corn on the cob, yogurt, applesauce, rice and other grains, meats, cakes(yes, even cheesecakes), soups, vanilla extract, and more.
Who knew?! For the last 30 years, I thought pressure cookers could only be used to can veggies or make pickles, and had no idea there were electric ones!
Master the Electric Pressure Cooker Cookbook doesn’t just have recipes.
It includes –
- Pressure cooker basics and guides to get you started
- Quick start guide
- Extra pressure cooking tips, lingo, and product recommendations
- 6 Handy pages of printable time charts for different food groups and items
- General guidance on how to pressure cook each food group
- A members only Facebook group for even more tips and help
- And LOTS more!
A healthy alternative –
If you are looking for a good way to bring a healthier diet into your home, pressure cookers are a way to go. Marci, a Nurse Practicioner and one of the co-authors of the book, says, “the best thing about pressure cookers is how easy they make providing nutritious food for my family.” I’m all about trying to make healthier food and skipping the fast food. If pressure cookers are where it’s at, then I’m going to ask for one for Christmas! I’m excited to try it out and have another convenient way to provide dinner each night in my hectic schedule.
Who knew that all those years of watching my mom work so hard with the old school pressure cooker, that the appliance would morph into something so much simpler to work with and with so much more it can do!
