Today was day 14 on the 30 days to healthy living challenge. Two weeks down with 2 to go.

Monday was a crazy one here at our house. My youngest had his last temperature the night before and then Monday my oldest started with being sick with a 101.7 temperature. Poor baby! I put all the kids on our couch/recliners and put in a movie to start the day (after we had tried going to the dentist and there realized my oldest was sick.) By this time I was feeling bad and took a short nap only to wake up and power puke. Luckily I made it to the toilet! I love drinking the shakes but coming back up… not so much. Then that night my little girl started with her temperature.
Friday, even though the kids had been fever free for over 24 hours at this point, I refused to take them to school to get reinfected. My daugher’s class had 4 out of 23 kids out, my oldest’s teacher had been out for the flu, and I’m not sure about my youngest but was pretty sure 2-4 kids were out in his class. Instead, we headed to my parent’s house for my birthday weekend.
Now my mom is a baker extraordinaire.
Needless-to-say, this week has been a bit coocoo and I’ve regrettably used it as an excuse to cheat a bit. It’s been a rough week but there are always going to be good and bad weeks in life. This challenge is helping me remember not to give up eating healthy and turn to “comfort” foods for my emotional stress. For now, I’m still going to follow the plan for the next 30 day challenge and will probably reorder the shakes at the end of week 3. So without further adieu, here is my food diary during week 2.

Day 12 –
Traveled for 7.5 hours to my parents’ house. We stopped by the donut shop on the way out of town but I just had a shake with greens. On the way we stopped at gas stations and drove through KFC. Oh what a giant temptation for me… crispy chicken, biscuits, potato wedges, sodas! MMMMmmm. I got my kids some potato wedges, green beans, and chicken tenders and for me… unsweet tea. Oh, how I enjoy tea! So I felt great about making the right choice only to falter at my parents’ when after dinner (which was on the table when we got there) my mom had made Aunt Annie’s sugar cookies. SIGH. Like setting out crack for an addict and taunting them. I ate at least 3. Ok, well, here’s my food diary the best I can remember…
Shake
Fizz
Water
Shake
3 potato wedges
Fizz
Dinner – I can’t remember what exactly I ate I was so tired but remember feeling good I only ate protein and veggies
Cookies, oh those delicious cookies!
Day 13 –
Shake
Fizz

Lunch – Steak and onions; fresh broccoli, califlower, and carrots with creme cheese, mayo, Italian seasoning veggie dip(bad idea, not part of the clean eating challenge); 8 corn chips and my mom’s delicious cheese and rotel dip… I’m feeling like a giant blog after eating all of this delicious food.
Chips & cheese dip – Ok, I folded during the middle of wedding planning for my niece when we took a break for about 15 minutes. SIGH!
Fizz
My Birthday Dinner – Steak and asparagus. My parents grow their own beef aka free range, organic. IT WAS DELICIOUS!
Ice cream cake – Every year my husband gets an ice cream cake for my birthday. This year his parents really needed help and needed to be at their house so my parents were so sweet to make sure I got my favorite cake. It’s tradition! I had a big piece. Oh, how I’ve blown the 7-8 pounds that I’ve worked hard at losing and my body by this time was feeling crummy with all the sugar and carbs I had eaten.
Day 14 –
2 Fried eggs
Water
Shake
Unsweet Tea – On way to my niece’s house, I drove through McD’s for my kids some food while they stayed with my soon-to-be nephew and I went to my niece’s bridal shower. I went ahead and got myself some tea which was yummy!
Lunch – Lunch meat, raw veggies, veggie dip, unsweet tea, water
Homemade Ziti with meatballs – The kids and I stopped by my cousin’s house on the way back to my parents’. My cousin is one of the best cooks every of Italian food. I initially was just going to have the meatballs and then tried a couple of the cheese covered noodles. Then I tried a couple more and well, you get the picture. SIGH! My family and their good cooking is making me gain all 8 pounds back. I have no will power when it comes to their cooking. UGH!
Dinner – Salad with balsamic vinegar. So proud of myself for doing so good. A little too proud…. then the cake came back out. That devious cake.
Ice cream cake
Water, 3-4 cookies, 3 big handfuls of cashews
Between my horrible will power, tempting family’s cooking, and people being so sick, I flat out gave up too much. It’s a new week ahead and this is the start of week 3 which means it’s the “detox week. I’ll keep you up-to-date and here’s to sticking better to the plan. I know I’ll feel better because after having a weekend full of sugar and carbs I literally feel ick. I’m glad to be back on the plan and away from temptation I’m not capable of saying “no” to yet.
