When you become a parent, it’s easy and understandable why you might lose sight of who you are and maybe have your confidence has taken a nose dive for many reasons. Indeed, you may find that you begin to wonder whether your sole purpose is simply to be a mother to your children which is a noble profession but… like my momma always says, “If you don’t care for yourself, you can’t care for others.”
It’s so important to make sure that you are taking the right steps to rebuild your confidence. Check out some ideas to help your confidence and always always reach out to a health care professional if you have are having physical health issues or a mental health professional for any post partum issues or depression.
You are not alone.
According to the 1 in 7 women suffer from postpartum depression and most all mother’s have the “baby blues” in the first couple months after giving birth. [National Library of Medicine] I have been to counselors and therapists off and on for about 20 years and I wish I would have done this sooner. Now days there are even online or telehealth therapists so hours are more flexible and more accessible. Last year I had some things to work through and used the service BetterHelp.com and it was such a blessing! So don’t be afraid and don’t shame yourself from getting help.

Eat Well
First, you need to make sure that you do eat well as a new mom. There are a few reasons for this. The process of giving birth is draining and there will always be a lot of chemicals rushing through your body. Eating the right diet can get things back under the right balance. You don’t need to go overboard here. Instead, you just need to focus on consuming a balanced diet that contains all the right things your body requires to function effectively.
De-Stress
Next, you should think about de-stressing as much as you can. It’s easy and common for stress to overwhelm new parents and make them feel as though they are drowning due to how much they need to think about.
The good news is that there are lots of steps that you can take to de-stress. For instance, you might want to explore options such as meditation. With meditation, you can guarantee that you are able to focus more and solve problems if and when they arise. While it can be difficult to get started with meditation, there are various videos that can help you learn the basics and ensure that you are in a strong position here.
Me Time
It’s also worth ensuring that you get the right level of ‘me’ time that you need as a new parent. Do not fall into the trap of feeling as though you are never doing anything to benefit yourself or that feels like it is purely for you. Remember, you don’t need a massive amount of ‘me’ time to create an impact here. Indeed, you could simply focus on taking a long, hot bath for twenty minutes each day. This could be enough to soothe your muscles as well as your mind.
Skin Care
Next, you should make sure that you are focusing on caring for your skin. If your skin has seen better days – and this could be the case after a pregnancy – then you might end up hating seeing yourself in the mirror. That’s why it’s worth finding the right skin care routine that is going to deliver the best benefits.
Remember, when you are thinking about starting a routine it’s important to make sure that you match your choices with your skin type. If you are not sure what skin type you have then it could be worth speaking to a professional dermatologist to get advice here.
Cosmetic Treatment
You might also want to consider exploring cosmetic treatment that will help you rebuild your confidence as a new mom. Options available from sites such as plasticsurgeryclinicec.com including breast augmentation could help you see your body and yourself in a brand new light. You just need to make sure that you are aware of all the benefits and the issues before you commit to a procedure like this. It’s important that you gain a clear picture and fully understand what you should expect with a choice like this.
Exercise
Exercise is also important if you want to make sure that you are able to rebuild your confidence as a new mom. By exercising regularly, you can reverse the aging process of yourself and ensure that you feel youthful as well as vibrant. This is just a matter of finding the right type of exercise that fits with your lifestyle.
Date Nights
If you and your other half haven’t had much time together since having a baby then it may be time to arrange a date night. It can be easy to forget that you still have to make time for each other when you have children. Life can be busy and get in the way but if you schedule in date nights every so often then you won’t forget the love and care you have for each other. Think about what you like to do, something you did before the children came along. A nice restaurant or a trip to the movie theater perhaps. If you are stuck for ideas then you could create a date night jar, take a look online to see how you can do this.
Makeup Choices
When it comes to confidence, you can build it up from nothing to something fantastic that has you beaming in the mirror. Makeup can either be your very best friend or your worst enemy, it all depends on how you use it. There are certain makeup products that will suit your skin better than others. Try to insert a skincare regime into your daily routine, morning and night. If you wear makeup, don’t sleep in it as this can have a huge impact on the quality of your skin. If you haven’t worn makeup for quite some time then it might be worthwhile speaking to an expert to see which ones suit your skin type.
Counseling
If you believe that your lack of confidence is due to a deeper-rooted issue then you could try counseling. Counseling will give you the chance to speak about your problems rather than keeping them bottled up. Don’t panic, you don’t always have to lay on a couch and express your woes. There are many different forms of counseling and therapy these days, for instance you might want to try group therapy or art therapy. Do your research and find the one that will do you some good and make you feel better about yourself. With the right help and support, you will be feeling more like yourself in no time at all.
New Wardrobe
Something else that can have a huge impact on your confidence is your wardrobe. If you haven’t been able to get back into your pre-pregnancy clothes then this can have a massive impact on your confidence and mental health in general. Let’s face it, there is too much pressure on women to get back to their pre-pregnancy weight and size. This doesn’t happen very often so it can sometimes be better to treat yourself to a shopping trip for new clothes. This will make you feel much better than trying to squeeze into those old jeans. When you find some new clothes that make you look and feel a million dollars then the smile will be back on your face.
See Your Friends
Finally, if you are trying to rebuild the confidence you had before you had children then there is nothing better than heading out with friends. This reminds you of the best times before your children arrived. Be aware, you may not be able to handle your alcohol how you once did, so take it easy if you are drinking. You might be worried that your friends don’t want to see you or hang around with you now you have children. Rest assured, the best of friends will never desert you.
We hope this helps you understand some of the key steps that you must take to rebuild your confidence as a new mom. In doing so, you can learn to love yourself once more and ensure that you like what you see when you look in the mirror.
