It’s clearly really important to take care of your heart. After all, arguably there is no more important organ in the body, and if you want to be healthy and live long, you need to make sure that you are taking care of your heart well. Most people are accidentally harming their heart more than they might realize, so it’s the kind of thing that might require a lot more attention than you might have thought. I found that out this past August 2022 when I wound up in the hospital because of a heart attack! Be sure to speak with your doctor before trying any of the following.

Some the symptoms are for a heart attack for women:
- Neck, jaw, shoulder, upper back or upper belly (abdomen) discomfort.
- Shortness of breath.
- Pain in one or both arms.
- Nausea or vomiting.
- Sweating.
- Lightheadedness or dizziness.
- Unusual fatigue.
- Heartburn (indigestion)
I was at work when I had my heart attack and initially thought I was having a panic attack even though I’m not prone to them. Initially, I felt a bit sick and just thought it was a stomach ache. Then my chest started to feel tight and a pain gradually climbed up to my clavicle. Next my left shoulder started to hurt then the pain went down my arm. Plus, I was a bit lightheaded at some point during the day. Unfortunately, 3 weeks later my cousin died of a heart attack. She only had symptoms of feeling sick and I think lightheadedness. I believe that she thought she had the flu. If you at all think you are having a heart attack, get someone to give you a ride to the ER or call an ambulance. Better safe than sorry. The number 1 killer for women each year is heart attacks with 1 in 5 women dying from them. Read more information here about heart attacks information.

The following are just some of the great ways in which you can improve your heart health this year. If you take on board even just one or two of these, by the end of 2023 you will have much better heart health, and therefore a better overall wellbeing as well. Let’s take a look at what you should aim for.
Reduce Caffeine Intake
Most of us require at least a little caffeine in order to get through the day. But it’s not the best thing for your heart, and that’s something that we all know. Nonetheless, it’s likely that you can easily reduce your caffeine intake if you put your mind to it, and you might actually find it’s easier than you assumed it would be. It could be a simple case of swapping out every other cup of coffee for a decaf alternative, or just not drinking any after midday. That might be enough to make a noticeable difference.
Get More Sleep
It shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that sleep is related to heart health – after all, it’s important for pretty much every bodily function there is. If you are not sure whether you’re getting enough sleep, this is something that you should certainly consider focusing on. Getting more deep and good quality sleep will allow your heart to work much more calmly and as it should, and even if you don’t feel much of a difference you will be helping your heart in the long run. So think about your sleep schedule and improve it where necessary. It could make a world of difference in the long run.

Stay Away From Drugs
Drugs can become a daily part of life for many people and is something that a lot of people experience all the time. This can mean addictive illegal drugs but also can mean caffeine or nicotine or anything that can harm your body. If you have found yourself in this kind of situation, then you might want to see what you can do to stay away from drugs more effectively in the future. If you have a full-blown addiction, you might need to find some suboxone doctors or similar help. It’s important to do whatever you need to in order to keep your body free of these kinds of toxins. That really helps your heart to pump more healthily, which is of course exactly what we are hoping to achieve here.
Take A Walk
In general, though, looking after your heart can be really simple and straightforward. For instance, you will be able to improve your heart health considerably if you just make sure to walk a little more often this coming year. If you don’t tend to exercise much at the moment, then taking a walk every now and then is going to help you out a lot, and it’s something that you should definitely think about for sure. Even just a ten minute walk can make a difference, and it’s something that you can easily incorporate into your daily life, so that might be a good thing to aim for in 2023 and beyond.

Use It
In general, anything that you can do to make use of your heart is a good idea, and likely to help it in the long run. As well as being an organ, you can also think of your heart as a muscle of sorts, and like any other muscle it’s a ‘use it or lose it’ scenario. So make sure that you are using it in some way or another every day. Do something that gets your heart rate up and then down again, and you will be helping to extend its lifespan so much. This is the kind of thing that really helps, so make sure that you don’t overlook its simplicity.
If you do some of those, you’ll find that hopefully 2023 ends in a much healthier place. You’ll have more energy and the ability to move around with ease. You will also have likely extended your life a little.
