Are you a “BooHoo” or a “Yahoo” mom? I’m a little of both.
Have you heard of this? I hadn’t until my first went to Kindergarten and my sister told me about hosting a BooHoo/Yahoo brunch on the first day of school each year(or the first day of the second week when things settle down a little). It’s a safeplace with no judgement of whether you are all BooooHoooo or Yahoooooo about your kid going to school. What a great idea, right?!
My youngest started Kindergarten this year. It’s surreal. (And my nephew started college this week. HUH?! ) I just blinked my eyes and they were babies. My sweet little guy was just doing that adorable scrunchy nosed smile as he pulled himself up by the coffee table, learning to walk, learning to dress himself, learning to use the TV remote ha!, and now off to school.
With school starting, I know it’s only a matter of weeks before the weather starts to change. With weather change and a group of kids being together for 7+ hours a day, germs will be shared and colds will start to be shared like a bag of candy. But not the good candy; you know like black liquorish – not my fav.
That’s why I’m coocoo for Purell and straight up bleach. Yep, I’m a bit of a freak when it comes to eliminating germs and oddly enough not as much of a freak about keeping a messy-free house. Anyway, some people have candles to make their home smell good. Me? A load of white towels in the laundry are done with bleach and detergent to scent my house. I didn’t realized how much I did this until my sister was visiting one day. She asked what was making my house smell so good.
“Bleach,” I responded.
Yea, you can tell we grew up in the same house with a slightly OCD cleaning mom. Ok, not really slightly. You could lick the floors at my mom’s house, and it would probably not have a taste at all – no dirt, dust, anything – just clean or like freshly baked cookies.
So back to Purell and bleach. I want to do anything I can to keep the germs at bay. They are mini invaders waiting to attack my kids and start the snot and stomach bug wars. Did you know that germs are spread mostly by hands? It makes sense right? But not only by handshakes but touching something that another hand has touched like light switches, chairs that are pulled out from tables, door knobs, and in the case of kindergarteners probably hands that are picking noses. (Eew and funny all at once!)
That’s why I was so happy that Purell sent me some samples like these to try…
I already keep a small bottle of Purell in my car at all times because we are always on the go. But am excited to try out these new products. I like the idea of the wipes so when I’m grocery shopping I can wipe the cart handle. I am also liking the Purell Naturals with essential oils and skin conditioner.
Now that all the kids are in school, I don’t want to have to worry about germs. I’d rather celebrate the start of school with a Yahooooo rather than a Boohooo. So here’s a big YAHOOO for the beginning of Kindergarten for my littlest and the days ahead.
