If you know me, you know I love to travel! From visiting local attractions in my hometown to state parks to eating Italian food in New Jersey, you know I love trying new things and revisiting places I’ve been before. Silver Dollar City is one of those places. Remember this article I wrote about our recent trip to Silver Dollar City?
I had to write a little more about this fantastic family trip! Silver Dollar City has lots to do and see. Are you a shopper? Well, shopping in Silver Dollar City is the place for you! They have shopping for clothes, toys, jerky, knives, candles, candy, pottery, musical instruments, decor, kitchen essentials, furniture and more! My favorites from this last trip were Brown’s Candy Factory, Mortimer’s Magic Box, Mountain Outfitters Knife Shop, and Christmas Hollow.
Brown’s Candy Factory
Can you guess which was my kids’ favorite shop? Yep! Brown’s Candy Factory was it. That and the toy store where there were loads of toys and chore money was blown on cool stuff. Anyway, the candy store is located just across the walkway from the demonstration area for the blacksmith. So after the demonstration was over, I took the kids to the candy factory. There is just about every candy you can think of available in the store. Our kids picked up some of their favorites prepacked candies. I picked out a truffle and got a bag of taffy for my husband.
The other half of the building is the “factory”. You can visit for specific demonstration times or if you are lucky catch someone making fudge like I did and get to try a little sample. YUM! Doesn’t she look like a lady who would be making candy…. Adorable!
Mortimer’s Magic Box
Ok, this little shop is packed full of magic tricks. Another favorite for shopping in Silver Dollar City of not only our kids but us grownups too! Corey’s family has a history of magicians. His aunt used to perform magic shows in the US. We had to check out Mortimer’s! Plus, if you ask nicely the people running the shop will show you a magic trick. I still can’t figure out how the lady did the card trick she showed us. We picked up a couple fun magic tricks to take home with us.
Mountain Outfitters Knife Shop
Now, can you guess which was my husband’s favorite shop? Mountain Outfitters Knife Shop has so many cool handmade knives by the men running the shop. We visited about 8 years ago and watched a demonstration of one of the craftsmen creating knives out of railroad spikes. It was fascinating to watch. After 8 years of thinking about it, we purchased this one-of-a-kind created knife.
Something, I’ve always done while at Silver Dollar City is visiting the Christmas shop. Now, this is my favorite place for shopping in Silver Dollar City! They have just about everything you can think of. Every time I’ve visited in my adulthood, I’ve gotten an olive tree made ornament. There’s plenty of other fun decorations in the store! I would write about it here but will let the pictures speak for themselves!
Next time you are in Silver Dollar City, take some time to stroll through the many shops. TIP: If you make a purchase, don’t worry about having to haul it around the park or take it onto rides. Silver Dollar City offers package pickup. Just ask the shop attendance for a ticket you will fill out to use to pick up the items at Ozark Marketplace as you exit the park. Shopping in Silver Dollar City is lots of fun! Be sure to check them out on your next visit.
