One of the way that anxiety can happen is that it makes a person think she always need to be doing more, achieving more, and filling life – with more, more, more. However, the opposite is true. If you are running yourself around all the time, you’re going to find that you are much more anxious. It could help to actually try to simplify your life as best as you can.
Keeping your life simple can ironically be quite complex. The point is to try and do less, remove the clutter, and free up some space in every area of life where you have that level of control. The more effectively you can simplify your life, hopefully the less anxiety you are going to feel in the future.

Get To Know Your Symptoms
In order to more fully understand your anxiety, it’s important that you get to know the common symptoms of anxiety that you might come across in your daily life. You probably know them well already, although in some cases you might not yet be aware that it is anxiety-related, and you might think it’s something else, or that it’s even a normal response to life. All in all, it’s important that you get to know your symptoms as best as you can, because it empowers you to know what to do about them, and generally understanding them better is always going to help you out.
So let’s take a look at some of the most common anxiety symptoms right now. First of all, you have the racing mind. This is a sure sign that anxiety is building, especially if you feel that your thoughts are going so fast that you can’t keep up with them, or you have the unsettling sensation of more than one thought happening at the same time. When this happens, it can be hard to settle down, but it is important that you try to.

Another experience you might have is shortness of breath. This can actually be one of the more subtle symptoms of anxiety, and some people might have it for years before realizing that they are actually quite anxious a lot of the time. However, as with many other symptoms, this can also be the result of something utterly unrelated – even heartburn can cause shortness of breath after eating – so you need to make sure that you have ruled out those much simpler options. If you are sure it is anxiety, then it will be a case of going to your preferred method for overcoming the moment.
You might also experience dizziness or a sense of loss of balance. Sometimes, this can combine with your other symptoms to cause you to pass out or have a panic attack. On top of all that, there can be a feeling of losing control, and an intense fear around that notion. These are just some of the symptoms, and you might have others that you know of intimately within yourself. The important thing is to be aware of them fully so you can take action as appropriate when you need to.
Coping Strategies
Speaking of which, the next question must be: what can you actually do about it when you start to feel the experience of anxiety? There are numerous coping strategies that you might want to try out, and it’s definitely a good idea to be aware of as many of them as possible. If nothing else, just having them in your back pocket will help you to feel so much more capable next time the anxiety kicks in – and that alone can be a soothing feeling that you can make use of in a powerful way.

One of the most trusted and well-known strategies is to count five things that you can see, five things you can touch, five things you can smell, and so on. This has a very effective grounding feeling which causes the anxiety to lessen considerably – because the nature of anxiety is that you are caught up in your thoughts too much and not being present. The more presence you can bring to the moment, the less anxiety there will be.
This is not only important for general anxiety, but also for when you can feel a panic attack coming on. This situation requires a lot of attention and that you are keeping yourself truly grounded, which is where a strategy like this becomes crucial. So make sure that you remember this next time that happens to you.
