Making money on the internet is an excellent method of earning supplemental income or even as a full-time job for those who are really dedicated. There are millions of genuine people out there who have worked very hard and put in a lot of time to making online as active or passive income. Every single one of these will tell you that it wasn’t easy.

As with anything where money is concerned, the online business world is brimming with fraudsters who love nothing more than to prey on the ambitions and naivety of others who are looking to make their own way in the world and take a piece of the internet money pie. While there are numerous scams such as the “Nigerian Prince” method that asks for money directly, there are more elaborate scams that appear to offer something of value but really do not.
Some of the categories that you should look out for are:
“Rich in Seconds” Courses
Dropshipping “Perfect Model”
While dropshipping is a genuine way of making money on the web, there is no perfect solution on how to approach it. Cryptocurrency is a hot topic at the moment and scammers are all too aware of people looking to invest in the next big thing, but even most Wall Street investors stay away from this volatile industry. Aside from winning something like the lottery or maybe knowing how to short stock effectively, no one gets rich quick. Any internet course offering this is a huge red flag.
The Oldest Trick
Get rich quick schemes have been around since time began – from the Bible lessons in Proverbs to the recently departed Bernie Madoff’s $65 billion Ponzi fund. There’s a line in Roald Dahl’s movie Matilda where Matilda’s father states that “No one got rich being honest”. While that could be argued, it is definitely true that no one gets rich quickly. The internet is no different and there are many unscrupulous marketers out there offering quick money schemes that promise “professional secrets” to make money on the web such as the Fast Fortune Club scam. These get rich schemes usually result in you paying for multilevel upsells that only offer advice that is already freely available anywhere on the web.
No Perfect Solution
There are many successful dropship entrepreneurs out there since it is a genuine method of making money over the internet. The system works by selling goods on behalf of a third party without actually having to store them yourself; which is why it’s excellent as an online-only business for people without storage space. However, there are many who claim to have found the perfect solution to dropshipping and will teach you, for a fee of course.
Essentially, a scammer will offer you a dropshipping course for an initially small fee and then upsell you their more advanced techniques. The problem here is that for one, it is simply an upselling tactic without any gain, and two, there isn’t a perfect solution to dropshipping. The very nature of the business means that it is different for everyone and is dependent on many external factors over which you have no control. Avoid these like the plague.
You can’t switch on the news these days without hearing about BitCoin and its $50,000 high point last month, and since it has been rising steadily for years and has anyone with money to invest salivating at the thought, there are scam investors looking to prey on these people who might not have thought it through properly.
Like any currency, trading BitCoin is extremely volatile currently and something that takes a lot of skill to understand, predict and make money from. This is why only people with too much money, ie. money they can afford to lose are actually investing wisely in it. On top of that, many industry analysts predict that Crypto is about to burst, like any bubble such as the dot com or housing markets. So now might not be the best time but this is something you will have to research and educate yourself to make the best possible decision. Still always remember that never invest money that you cannot afford to lose.
These are just some of the scams that are online. Just like in real life, be smart and educate yourself about what you are considering to invest in. And again (am I saying this enough?), don’t invest with money you cannot afford to lose!
