The weather isn’t quite cool enough for campfires around here yet, but who isn’t always ready for a yummy s’more? That’s why I love this easy to make indoor treat, skillet s’mores, using tortillas!
Read below for step by step directions….
What you’ll need… Tortillas, butter, marshmellows, chocolate chips(if you like them), whipped cream(I prefer the spray can kind), and any other treats you like.
🍴1. Heat a skillet (preferably a well-seasoned cast iron). Make sure it’s HOT. And make sure your tortillas are chilled before adding to the frying pan.
🍴2. Add copious amounts of butter. I’m from the south so that means a ridiculous amount.
🍴 3. Make sure the butter’s just about melted and then add your tortilla.
🍴 4. Ok, now wait for that butter to start sizzling. But don’t wait too long or the fire detector will go off and wake up the kids during your middle of the night snack escapade(Um, yes, it actually happened while I was making the Skillet S’mores!)😅
🍴 5. Now it’s time to add the marshmallows. Not too much longer now until s’mores nirvana.
🍴 6. After about half a minute or so, it’s time for the chocolate chip goodness if that’s your thing… Why, yes, it is mine!
🍴 7. Keep an eye on things. Those marshmellows should be looking fluffy but squishy. I checked with the spatula. The chocolate also started getting melty and the tortilla was browning a bit. That’s when I ever so carefully lifted it a little to check. These were my clues to commence the pretty plating.
🍴8. I turned off the stove, moved the tortilla s’mores to the plate and folded it over.
🍴9. For fun you can add whipped cream, ice cream, fruit toppings, sprinkles, cinnamon, or whatever flavors make your mouth water!
🍴10. Now for the final step… Document a photo of your Skillet S’mores on IG and tag me (@simplestepsforlivinglife). No no no! I’m kidding! 😋 The best step of all is getting to enjoy this yummy easy peasy treat!
