For many 2020 has been a bit of a dumpster fire year, but this doesn’t mean 2021 has to be.
There may have been something that you didn’t manage to achieve in 2020 that you still want to do. Why not aim for these in the new year. From learning to drive to enrolling in a new course to better yourself, below are five things to aim for in 2021.

Learn To Drive
I know lots of youngsters (ok I’m in my mid 40s) that waited until well after they were well over 18 years old before driving and their parents finally forced them to start driving. When I was 14, I got my driver’s permit and was ready to go go go! That was before driving schools and kids getting hardship licenses when they turned 15 so they could start working.
No matter what age you are, if you are over 18 and currently don’t know how to drive, it is never too late to start. Being able to drive is a great skill to have that will stay with you for the rest of your life. No matter where you live, just about anyone with a license can rent a car and drive to a destination if you want to. Once you have received your license, you can get excited about getting yourself a car for the first time. Just remember you will need to insure the car once you get it, so it’s worth looking at cheap car insurance for new drivers. Don’t make the mistake that I see ALL the time on Judge Judy when people drive an uninsured car! It’s illegal and could cause you so many headaches in the long run.
Learn something new
Learning something new can give you confidence, a fun hobby, and more. In the new year, why not enroll onto an online course or a face to face lesson? Whether you want to study a professional qualification to enhance your career opportunities or to open the door to a new career altogether or would like to just try something new, there is something for everyone. Some online courses are free to do and won’t cost you a penny, only your time. Whereas some courses will cost but are governed by a professional body which will allow you to progress onto the further level. Either way, learning is a great thing to do and will help you become a more rounded, educated person.
Take On A New Challenge
Are you scared of heights? Then why not beat this and do a skydive. If you want to start exercising but need a challenge, train for a 5K, a half or full marathon. Want to learn a new skill or craft, this is the year to pick up knitting, sewing, or another fun activity. No matter what your interests are there is always a challenge to be taken on.
Challenges are perfect for motivation but also give you a great sense of accomplishment once achieved. Why not get one of your friends to do it with you, that way you have someone to push you when you aren’t feeling motivated. If the challenge is big enough, you could always try and raise some money for charity along the way. Marathons, bike rides, and skydives are good for raising money. Some challenges don’t have to be huge, even the small ones are still a challenge and will bring great reward by completing. Choose a challenge that suits you the most and go for it!

Start Saving To Buy A Property
If you are currently renting, then why not make 2021 a year you save for a deposit to buy. You don’t have to save it all in one year but by saving a certain amount each month will help you to be closer to your goal in the future. Set up a direct deposit where the same amount comes out each month and if anything is left over, add that to the account as well. You may surprise yourself at just how much you can save in a year. For some people, the extra saving may mean you can actually buy in 2021 which is a big achievement. Just remember, buying a property doesn’t happen overnight but by saving you will gradually get there. Write down your goal, specific dates to target, and check on your progress throughout the year. Remember, it’s not a sprint its a marathon.
Get Active
Getting active is not only great for your heart, but it’s also great for your mental and physical health as well. No matter your level of ability, you can always take part in some physical activity. Whether that’s joining a sports team and playing football or walking an extra 5000 steps a day. The fact you are doing something more will benefit your health. Plus, you’ll also benefit from other things like making new friends, feeling part of a community and possibly getting a better nights sleep. As mentioned above, why not get your friends and family involved and do it together, that way you all benefit and can motivate each other when you are not feeling it.
There are so many things to do in the new year. Choose the things that are most relevant to you and make sure these are activities your doctor approves. By just taking on one of the above you could feel a sense of achievement once you do it. Make you 2021 a year of adventure!
