It’s possible to have a bad hair day. Isn’t that right? Do the bouncy and voluminous manes that models flaunt in hair care advertisements seem like a far-fetched fantasy to you most of the time? We agree that the majority of them go a little too far. Don’t even get me started about how many people it takes to make one of those photo spreads… hair stylists, extensions, lighting, filters, and more! Don’t let them fool you into thinking that fancy dancy hair just magically happens spontaneously. It takes lots of care and maintenance. But don’t let that deter you from taking a healthy approach to hair care.

However, hair care experts believe that with proper hair care, the dream of healthy hair can become a reality. This article contains a curated list of top hair care tips.
Hair Care Dos
Wash Your Hair Often
Washing your hair on a routine basis keeps your scalp and hair free of dirt and excess oil. However, the appropriate frequency is determined by your hair type and personal preferences. Limit your washing to twice a week if your hair is extremely dry. If your scalp is extremely dry and flaky you might need to check with your doctor or dermotologist to see if there is something medically going on with your skin and scalp. Washing your hair on alternate days can help if you have an oily scalp.
Always Use Chemical Free Shampoos
You can’t manage all of the environmental factors that harm your hair, but you can control the shampoo you use. The fewer chemicals in your shampoo, the healthier your hair is. Choose gentle shampoos that are appropriate for your hair type.
Shampoos contain sulfates and parabens for lathering and preserving, but they can cause skin irritation and increase the risk of hormonal disruptions over time
Condition Properly
Your conditioner includes ingredients that help your hair to fall straight and be manageable. It shields your hair from environmental irritants and thermal styling. However, it should only be used on the tips of your hair and not on your scalp. Also, after applying it, thoroughly rinse it off.
Dry Your Hair Naturally
We are aware. Blow-drying your hair makes it look as good as your on-screen idol’s. Excessive heat styling, on the other hand, can harm your hair’s scalp. If you must dress up for an important event, keep it to a minimum. After shampooing, air drying or towel drying is the best option. Never sleep with wet hair or comb it. Rubbing your hair with a towel too hard can damage the cuticle. Be gentle with yourself.
Oil Your Hair Correctly
Pre-shampoo treatments such as oiling and massaging improve blood flow on the scalp, relax muscles, increase shine, and nourish the hair. It also replenishes moisture, promotes hair growth, and repairs split ends. Scalp micropigmentation treatments can also help with hair loss. You can use coconut oil, almond oil, olive oil, castor oil, and other similar oils. Mineral oil should not be used on your hair.
Trim Your Hair Regularly
To get rid of split ends, trim your hair every 6-8 weeks. Split ends occur when the hair is damaged as a result of heat styling, pollution, smoking, stress, and other factors. Trimming does not cause hair to grow faster. Hair grows from the scalp, but trimming ensures healthy hair.
Drink Plenty Of Water
Internal and external hydration is essential for well-balanced and healthy hair. Even if you use hydrating hair care products and oils, drinking at least 3 liters of water daily ensures good hair health.
Eat Healthily
We’ll keep saying “you are what you eat” as long as we write about skin and hair care. Proteins and amino acids make up your hair. It requires proper nutrition to develop and sustain itself. Some of the many great foods for healthy hair include eggs, berries, nuts, fish, green leafy vegetables, and sweet potatoes.
Make Use Of Hair Caps/hats
In the same way that sunlight is harmful to your skin, it is also harmful to your hair. Sun rays can strip moisture from your hair, leaving it dry, brittle, and damaged over time. When you go out, wear a hat to protect your hair from the elements. When swimming in a pool, cover your hair with a cap. Chlorinated water is damaging to your hair.
Make Use Of Hair Bands
We like to show off our open hair, but we use hair bands to protect it from environmental aggressors. Instead of using plastic hair ties, use fabric ones. When making a ponytail or any other hairstyle, don’t pull your hair too tightly.
Use A Hair Wrap Or Old T-shirt To Dry
This one’s new. Your t-shirt can be used to dry your wet hair without causing damage to the hair. Traditional towels are rough on your hair cuticles and damage your hair over time. Save up your soft, old t-shirts from now on!

Hair Care Don’ts
Too Many Hot Showers
As a result of hot showers, your scalp becomes dry and flaky. A cold shower would be best.
Too Much Stress
The next time that you notice someone with healthy hair, you can bet our lives that they are less likely to worry about their appearance. There are many reasons for hair loss and unhealthy hair, and one is stress.
Over Loading On Chemicals
Hair dyes, perms, and other hair treatments contain chemicals that damage your hair follicles, disrupt hair growth, and may also result in hair loss.
Over Use Of Hair Styling Products
Heat styling with straighteners, blow dryers, and curling irons over an extended period of time change the hair texture, causing the hair to become dry and prone to breakage.
What Happens When You Don’t Take Proper Care Of Your Hair?
If you don’t take better care of your hair, it may eventually stop growing. Dandruff, hair falling out, dryness, and dullness may appear gradually.
Ingrown hairs can form when you don’t wash your hair for an extended period of time. Yes, you read that correctly! They can also appear on the scalp. In addition, leaving your hair unwashed for an extended period of time attracts more dust. Using the wrong hair care products can cause itching and hair loss.
Concluding
As such, by using chemical-free products designed for your specific hair type, eating well, avoiding heat styling, and following all of the above tips, you can say goodbye to bad hair days! But, most notably, if you have excessive hair loss and damage despite following a good hair care routine, see your doctor. And, whether you have hair or not, you should still celebrate yourself.
