Marvelous Tips Mondays!
Are your allergies kicking in this season? Have a sore throat from all the yucky drainage? I do!
Here’s a couple quick ideas for soothing a sore throat –
- Gargle with Warm Salt Water. My parents swore by this home remedy when I was a child and now I do too. Get a cup of warm water and mix in about a 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Gargle and spit it out. Do this twice a day and your throat should be feeling better soon.
- Drink Hot Tea with Honey. Add two to three teaspoons of honey to hot tea and enjoy! Honey has antibacterial properties and also has a hypertonic osmotic property that draws water out of inflamed tissue. If you have allergies to honey, don’t use this tip!
- Use Lozenges or Hard Candy. Throat lozenges help increase saliva which lubricates the throat. Lozenges with menthol or eucalyptus are made to soothe irritated tissue. If a medicated throat lozenge isn’t available and you are in a pinch, then use hard candy which will increase saliva production and should help soothe the sore throat.
I hope these tips help you through the allergy season! Happy Monday Everyone!!!
