A massage is a great stress-relieving tool to help our bodies heal and our minds relax.
Not everyone can afford to go to a professional for the work they want to be done. If you are in lockdown, of course, you can’t go and see a masseuse anyway. So why not learn how to massage your own body instead? This is not to replace a professional masseuse but while you are unable to see a professional maybe try learning some basic techniques. It’s not that difficult once you learn a few key tips and the basic anatomy of your body. And, as always, be sure to speak with a medical professional before trying any of these.
Towards the heart
Rule number one is, always massage towards the heart. Anything below the chest you should massage upward and anything above the chest, massage downward. Why do this? Well, it helps to transport the toxins you release from your tissue away from the area. You don’t want to flush out toxins during your message, only for them to sit there stagnant and cause more problems. So, always finish a body part by massaging towards the heart. You can stroke the opposite direction but always finish massaging toward the heart.
Use the right oil
Obviously, it’s not the best idea use olive oil to massage yourself. Well… technically you could use it, but let’s be sensible! The type of oil you use really does matter. It matters in a number of ways.
- Your skin. If you have sensitive skin, certain oils will make things worse
- You want your muscles to relax or be revitalized? Certain oils will boost your energy, while others will soothe your muscles.
- Skin health. Some oils help the complexion of your skin while others may cause spots to break out.
The Ease Functional body oil from juna-world.com has a key ingredient of cbd. This has been proven to show that it can soothe your muscles, really help to prevent inflammation and boost your endorphin level.
Save your thumbs
Professionals will warn you, your thumbs should not be taking a pounding when you are massaging your body. Always take breaks from using your thumbs by using your knuckles. You can use the knuckles you make when you bend your fingers inward into your palm or use your knuckles when you make a fist. This will allow you to massage your body for much longer than by just using your thumbs or giving your thumbs most of the workload.
Stretch and pin
One of the best ways to massage yourself is to learn the stretch and pin technique. This is so useful because it can really loosen your body up without using too much force or needing a lot of time. You will put pinpoint pressure on a part of your body that hurts, let’s say your shin. Then you will compress your leg and then slowly stretch it out. The area will loosen much more than it normally does, allowing toxins to release and crunch zones to smoothen.
Self-massage can be incredibly helpful to our health. We often love to be given a massage because it feels so good. But without being able to go to a professional or rely on the technique of our loved ones, we have to take up the mantle and help ourselves.
