Running around shopping for Christmas presents and then cooking Christmas dinner is hard work. But, at the end of the day when you’re sat around the table with a glass of wine in your hand, nobody wants dark circles under their eyes. You want to work hard, but not look as if you’ve just gotten off a 10-hour shift. Many women(and men too) will want to look their absolute best on Christmas day for the family meal.
Getting rid of dark circles isn’t difficult but it does take time. The darker tone around your eyes only appears after systemic behavior. Getting up early after one too many late nights will do this to you. So you can’t fix the issue overnight. Prepare and act now, so you’re looking fresh as a daisy when the time comes to carve the turkey.
Springing back to life
Firstly, you need to give your skin a shot of life back. Two simple things you’ll need is a lemon and a little sugar. After you’ve got the freshly squeezed lemon juice, mix it in with the sugar. Then gently apply the mixture to your face. Be very careful not to get this in your eyes! The lemon will act as an acidic solution that will strengthen and revitalize your collagen bonds. This makes the skin springy, perky and looking more youthful. The lemon will also work to brighten your skin due to the acid pulling up dirt and debris off your skin. The sugar is merely there to act as a fine but coarse scrub that will lift any bacteria and dirt out from your pores. It’s a simple scrub to make but it’s the first wave of your fight back.
Get to bed
One of the best ways to banish dark circles is to get to bed on time. You need 8 hours of sleep at least. And no, this doesn’t mean 8 hours of time spent in bed, it means fully asleep and allowing your body to heal. If you have trouble getting to sleep, then give yourself a head start. If you know it takes you 1 hour to fall asleep and you get up at 7 am, then go to bed at 10 pm. Leave your phone in another room so you won’t be tempted to stare at that blue screen. Turn off the television and especially the news so your mind and emotions can rest. Also, keep a glass of water next to you when you sleep, so you can have a few more sips before you go to bed. The extra water will be used by your body to flush out toxins and waste products created during the day.
In the meantime
All of these things will take time to have their effect and are more or less effective for different people. But, in the meantime, you can use concealer to blend in and cover up your dark circles. If you click here for vegan makeup, you can find concealers that use sunflower seed oil for Omega-6 and 9. This will moisturize your skin. Shea butter is included to intensely hydrate your skin. Vitamin E is also present to strengthen your skin against UV damage from the sun.
The importance of a full 8-hour sleep cannot be stressed over and over enough. It is one of the best defenses and offenses for your beauty routine. Also, use the lemon and sugar scrub to help splash some life back into your skin. Do you have any tips getting rid of dark circles? I’d love to hear about it; please share in the comments below.
