This past weekend, my husband and I got to go on a date!
I know, I know, it was like winning the lottery!!! We were visiting my in-laws for Father’s Day and my MIL was so nice to offer babysitting for the kids. Before she finished her sentence, we were peeling out of the driveway. LOL
They live right outside Hot Springs, Arkansas. It’s a great little tourist town with tons to do – shopping, hiking, great restaurants, film festivals, jazz festivals, the shortest St Patty’s Day parade in the US, gangster museum, gem stone(especially quartz) mines, fun parks, nature parks, an alligator farm, wax museum, science museum, two beautiful lakes, state parks, Hot Springs Mountain Tower, Tiny Town Trains, the botanical garden, horse racing, Magic Springs(Amusement Park), an old school toy store, Maxwell Blade long term magic show, art galleries, and the biggest attraction… Bath House row(a National Park) which back in its heyday was a stomping ground for people like Al Capone and other notorious people.
Bath House row is the main tourist street. There are plenty of shops, museums, restaurants, and more on Central Avenue.
On our date, we decided to go to the downtown area of Hot Springs (aka Central Avenue). We got lucky to find a parking spot on the street at the far north end. (Yea!) First we stopped at Bath House Soapery and found some old fashion shave cream for my father in law for Father’s Day.
Next we stumbled upon the (somewhat new) Argentinian Coffee & Wine Bar.
It has a bunch to offer in the space… sandwiches, ice cream, wine and champagne ice cream (actually made with wine or champagne with 5% alcohol), an oxygen bar, aqua jet massage, an outdoor patio, and the coolest beverage vending machine I’ve ever heard of. I don’t even drink any more at all but it was so innovative!
At the Argentinian Coffee & Wine Bar they have what I like to call a big gulp machine for wine lovers. You can pick up a plastic card at the bar, that you will use in the machine. Then you choose which wine to try out, press the button for either 1 oz, 3 oz, or 5 oz. It will record this on the card and after you are finished, you just checkout with the register.
One hint though… make sure your wine glass is directly underneath the little spigot. I mean right underneath not held far away from it. We heard a group right before we got there accidentally spilled a bunch of wine because of this.
Even though I don’t drink alcohol, I do loooove coffee! They served a delicious iced coffee and I enjoyed it greatly. It was a wonderful way to start our date.
If you are looking for a fun stop on Bath House Row (aka Central Avenue) while visiting Hot Springs, be sure to try out the Argentinian Coffee & Wine Bar. Fun times!
