Working all through the week can be very exhausting.

Whether you sit at a desk all day, work for yourself from home or do something that is labor intensive, by the time Friday rolls around you are done and so ready for the weekend. It can sometimes have us missing those days of lockdown… naaa! The problem is that there is a little pressure to ensure you make the most of the time off. Right now, life is different, and the weekends are very valuable regardless of lockdowns or not. So here are some great ideas that can help you relax and soothe your soul on the weekends. Mix these with everything else and by Sunday evening to help you feel content.
Go on a camping trip
One of the best ways to enjoy the weekend is to just get away, and camping can be the ultimate way to get away. It can be so flexible and doesn’t cost much money after you get your tent and sleeping bag which usually last for years. We recently had a weekend get-a-away but didn’t want to spend a ton of money and camping was the best option. Plus it was part of a festival and was so much fun! We packed up our car, got on the road at a time that worked for us and enjoyed our break from every day life(and even left the kids with my in-laws – THANKS for being amazing grandparents!). There aren’t as many worries for social distancing when camping as you will be outside and probably not near many people even in a state park because the campsites are usually spread out. We are even going back over Thanksgiving weekend for the last weekend of Texas Renaissance Festival. What a fun way to spend as a family! Not only does camping take you back to basics, but you can also be at one with nature and just enjoy the fresh air. It can be a great way to enjoy the weekend and have you feel refreshed for Monday.
Visit a Festival
During the pandemic you will want to do research before you go. The TexRenFest is an outdoor fair with 300+ small stores. I checked ahead of time to make see the mandates they were following regarding rules for safety. They required mask wearing and had a 50% capacity this year. We have been to several events in the past and are familiar with how large the walkway space is (which is huge) and felt comfortable getting to attend this year especially since almost all of the entertainment is completely outdoors like jousting and birds of prey shows. Check to see if there are festivals or outdoor concerts that are accessible for your needs or comfort level. It’s a fun way to escape everyday life.
Read for an afternoon and indulge in some self-care
A little self-care can go a long way, so whether that is reading a book for an afternoon or indulging in a warm bath, hot shower, or a slowed down skincare routine, enjoy the self care time. You could even use your weekends to fit in things you have been putting off. It might be to finally tackle issues with toenails and to have Laser Toenail Fungus Treatment. Or it may be that you use the weekends for your hair appointments or beauty treatments. Even if the local hair and nail salons are closed due to the pandemic, you can always have a spa day at home. Things might be a little closed off right now, but as things get back to normal the weekend can be the perfect time for some self care.
Take up a new hobby
The weekends are often the perfect time to consider taking up a new hobby as you have the time to dedicate to it. This could be anything that you want. Fun favorites include things like fishing, blogging, painting, car playing, hiking, walking or running. Or things like sports where you can use the time at the weekends to get some practice in. What is it you have fancied doing? If there is something you would like to try the weekend could be the ideal time to do it.

Go out for breakfast
During the week, the mornings can feel very rushed and often you don’t get time to indulge in breakfast in the way that you would like. So why not use the weekend as a chance to enjoy breakfast made by someone else? Heading out for breakfast can feel like a luxurious treat, and often doing this could be a great way to feel relaxed and refreshed. Plus you can indulge in some of your favourite breakfast options, smashed avocado anyone? Restaurants and cafes need you support more than ever, so when things are back to normal, you could really help your local establishments out.
Head out on a hike
Sometimes it is good to be lazy on a weekend, but other times you just want to enjoy the fun and activity, and going hiking is a great way to spend the time. You could plan a trek, or simply just head out on a path. It can be a lot of fun, and as long as you are prepared with the right walking boots and drinks, you are good to go. Start off small and build up your stamina if this is your first time.
