Heartburn is one of the most uncomfortable things you can have. If you are like most people you will have a small hiccup and then you will begin to feel a burning sensation down your throat and chest.
Heartburn is triggered by different things for different people. If you have been eating spicy food it can trigger heartburn. However, it is not uncommon for heartburn to be triggered by fatty and acidic foods as well. There are plenty of medications available on the market to deal with heartburn but it is a good idea to try natural remedies as well.
Here are some of the best ones you can try, but be sure to speak with your doctors before trying any remedy.
Change Your Clothing
If your clothes are too tight it can cause you to have an upset stomach. Heartburn occurs whenever the contents of your stomach begin to ascend into your esophagus. If you are wearing extremely tight clothing it can compress your stomach. The best solution for this is to loosen or change your clothing.
Change Your Posture
Just as your clothing can contribute to heartburn your posture can also do the same. If you are lying or sitting down try standing up instead. When you stand up try to be as straight as possible. The more upright your posture the less pressure there will be on the lower esophagus sphincter muscle. This muscle is a ring that will prevent any stomach acid from rising up into your esophagus and giving you heartburn.
Baking Soda and Water
Baking soda and water is an effective heartburn remedy. You probably have some laying around in your kitchen at home. Making a baking soda and water remedy is very easy. Simply dissolve a teaspoon of baking soda into is some water and start drinking it very slowly. This will begin to ease your discomfort.
Ginger has been used as heartburn medicine for centuries. You should dice the ginger into small pieces and make some tea. Ginger tea is easy to make. All you have to do is put the ginger into some boiling water. Let it steep until it is bubbling. Once this is done you can either cool it or drink it hot. You can sweeten it with some sugar if you cannot tolerate the taste.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is a great remedy for heartburn. Apple cider is said to neutralize stomach acids and relieve heartburn. If you want to use this remedy simply dilute some apple cider vinegar in water and then drink it. It is best to do this immediately after a meal.
Heartburn can be difficult to deal with but by using natural remedies along with any treatment that your doctor gives you could find relief. Be sure to speak to your doctor about treatments and whether the above remedies would be suited for your situation.
