Just because coronavirus has reared its ugly head and made us all question whether or not a summer vacation is viable this year, it doesn’t mean that you cannot embark on your annual summer beach bod quest. Even if you will be spending your summer soaking up the rays in your back garden rather than on an idyllic island, this doesn’t mean that you can’t look and feel good. Looking good and feeling happy goes hand in hand with boosting your confidence and feeling content with your lot. By honing what you have, shifting a few pounds and toning up, you can achieve beach body perfection.
Adjust Your Expectations
The most important thing about achieving beach body perfection has nothing to do with how you physically look. It has everything to do with your attitude and perception. We are constantly bombarded by photoshopped images of perfectly toned bodies. Let’s face it 99% of those images aren’t real. Did you know that Instagram alone has 25 different filters? And people use graphic programs like PicMonkey or Photoshop every single day to make things closer to imaginary land and further away than reality. If you are looking to achieve beach body perfection, decide what that means for your body. I’m 5ft3″(163cm) and 150lbs(68kg) so I will never look like a VS model at this height or weight and I’m just fine with that. For me, to achieve beach body perfection would just mean toning up some muscles and maybe drop some pounds, maybe. (I like my curves!)
Shifting The Pounds
If you have been eating a little more during the coronavirus lockdown, you may have found your denim shorts fitting a little too snugly. To get ready for the summer, you might want to lose a little weight. Consider the joys of a fasting mimicking diet to help you lose weight fast. Rather than losing muscle, you can fast and lose body fat, meaning that you are more likely to keep the weight off rather than putting it back on again. Only ever fast with juices or shakes for a maximum of five days. This isn’t a way of eating for the rest of your days and should be used to kick start your new healthy eating plan. Also be sure to always consult your doctor regarding fasting and whether or not it is ok for your specific health.
Consider a more ketogenic diet when you begin any eating plan. By increasing your levels of good fats such as oily fish and olive oil salads, you can shift body fat rather than muscle. You will also reap the health benefits of lower blood pressure and better heart health.
To shift the pounds, you will need to get a little more active. Being sedentary and enjoying the latest box sets on Netflix will not keep you fit or give you a cardio workout. You need to get off the sofa and get outdoors. Go for a jog, go rock climbing, enjoy a bike ride or simply take a stroll around the neighborhood. You can still stay safe and keep socially distant when exercising outdoors. There are plenty of gyms now thinking outside the box and embarking on outdoor classes. If you head to the park, it’s not unusual to see a group of socially distant people enjoying a Zumba class or a boxing session. Keeping to yourself isn’t difficult when you have plenty of outdoor space around you.
One of my favorite parts of summer has always been finding bathing suits no matter when I was 120lbs or pregnant and over 180lbs. I love bathing suits! I never feel more beach body perfect than when I find a bathing suit that fits good and is adorable(I’m waiting on my mermaid two piece from Wish; hope it makes it in time for next summer ahahaha). Being in lockdown has meant less time on the high street scouring the shops for some summer bargains. You can still shop online and there are plenty of sites with incredible deals at the moment. In uncertain economic times, retailers and fashion houses need to boost sales by offering incentives. Enjoy heading online to look for your new swimming outfit, some summer shorts and some summer dresses for a socially distant barbecue.
