Have you taken time to stop and smell the roses lately? This past Saturday, I walked across the street to my neighbors house and noticed how beautiful the rose bushes are. I stopped and took a big whiff.
I had forgotten how lovely they smell. Isn’t that life though? There is so much to enjoy in our world, and while we are busying ourselves with day to day life, we forget. No wonder the smell of flowers isn’t at the forefront of our minds.
The older I get the faster this planet seems to spin. I want to savor it and enjoy as much as I can. One of the best ways to do this… enjoying the little things like a neighbor’s rose bush or watching a nest of baby birds quickly grow and fly away. It’s listening to the sound my childrens’ voices or feeling the strong hug of my husband. It’s stopping by our local gas station for an icee and one of the best crawfish pies in this area.
Enjoying these “little things” are what keep me going each day, keeps me smiling, reminds me of all the blessings there are in life that are so plentiful they can’t all be counted.
It’s so important to acknowledge and have gratitude for the little things in life. This will make you more thankful, help you focus on the positive and in the midst of difficulty help you keep pushing on.
Turns out these little things add up to a big life full of joy.
What are the little things in your life that you savor?
