For lots of people with preexisting conditions, the virus has been a very real threat for quite a long time now. Social distancing is something that many people feel more comfortable doing when going out. Covid has gotten people thinking about how easy it is to spread germs. While most germs spread through touch, there are a lot of people who prefer to keep their distance as well just in case of air born germs. Even so, if you’re still unvaccinated or would rather keep up the social distancing, there’s plenty you can get out there and do uninterrupted.
Being stuck inside for so long can be maddening, and there’s plenty you can do with friends or family without having to get close to others.
Nature walks have always been something that’s relaxing and peaceful. With or without company, they’re great for the mind. My family was stuck in a 1 bedroom apartment for several months last year at the height of the pandemic and our main sanity savers was going out for hikes at local parks. If you still feel like keeping your distance from other people is still important for your situation, there’s never been a better time for enjoying nature walks. With the summer coming up, getting yourself out there in nature has never been more enjoyable. There are plenty of things to see, and plenty of places you can do it. If you are hiking by yourself, be sure to let someone know where you will be going. Take yourself to a local park or hiking trails, leave your devices in the car, and let yourself be immersed in your surroundings!
If needing to social distance is important to you, gyms might not be an option. Finding somewhere to get your workout can be quite difficult. Everyone has their own preference when it comes to working out, so finding something that’s a good fit can be frustrating. Cycling is something that many people enjoy, and it’s not too expensive to get into. Not only do you only have to make a one-time purchase, but it also allows you to get out of the house for a bit while being able to keep your distance from others!
Visit the beach
With the lockdown restrictions easing up, there are more people out and about. That doesn’t mean it’s going to be too risky to visit the beach. The weather is getting warmer, and I don’t know about you but the beach is calling my name! Anywhere with large open spaces is ideal, and the beach has that and more. A day out at the beach can be a great way to wind down and soak up the sound of the relaxing waves – such a positive day trip.
If you haven’t gotten your vaccine yet or aren’t planning to get one and you are in a high risk category, you might still be concerned about being around other people. Maybe you still choose keep wearing a face mask, and you can find loads online if you go browsing for them. Personalized or not, there are plenty of face masks around to purchase, and it can give you that little extra peace of mind when you’re out and enjoying yourself. Most importantly is making sure the mask you choose will filter out particulates if that is possible.
The lockdown has been hard on everyone this past year especially if you are in a risk category that makes things scarier. If you’re struggling to find opportunities to get out of the house without feeling safe, it’s going to become frustrating. Everyone needs to experience their freedom, and you should be taking advantage of any opportunity that you can to enjoy getting out and about.
